Michaels gets crafty at Irvine’s Woodbury Town Center this summer

The popular arts & crafts monolith proves creativity is still king, offering a vivid shopping experience with a sense of discovery on every aisle

IRVINE, Calif. (May 11, 2017) — Michaels Stores, Inc., North America’s largest arts and crafts specialty retailer brimming with marquee supplies and newfangled trends, is slated to open June 4 at the Woodbury Town Center in Irvine.

The 43-year-old retailer knows a thing or two about what customers want—or for that matter, predicting what they do. The traditional brick-and-mortar store is one of the most surprising retail success stories in recent years, luring customers of all stripes by stocking more than sewing supplies alone, tapping into trends from coloring books to designer yarn.

“This is a store where imaginations run wild, and that’s precisely the point,” said Easther Liu, chief marketing officer of Irvine Company Retail Properties. “You can’t feel fabric when you buy it online. Our neighborhood shoppers are craving that tactile experience.”

The 18,958-square-foot store will stock an average of 40,000 different products including a dizzying array of arts, crafts, framing, floral, wall décor, bakeware, beads, scrapbooking and seasonal merchandise for hobbyists and DIY decorators.

Michaels is located between HomeGoods and Trader Joe’s at 6218 Irvine Blvd., Irvine, CA 92620
